My boyfriend and I who are not from Texas went for a trip and chose to go horseback riding here. The entirety of the stockyards is cool, however, the “trail” riding was definitely not worth $85 per person. We arrived a little more than 30 minutes (as advised when booking) and no one was around at the booth until like 10 minutes before our time, and we were automatically met with attitude from the one guide saying we almost would have had to rebook for not coming in earlier… meanwhile the guides were hiding behind the booth on the ground, not present at all so that was confusing. For travellers, it isn’t very welcoming. I also have a lifetime of experience with horses, but my boyfriend does not and she was very annoyed with the fact that she had to show him how to ride. She was not clear with instructions right from the start. His horse refused to go, and the guide would just get frustrated with my boyfriend as he didn’t know what to do or want to hurt the horse (beginner thoughts). At the end of the ride we gave our gratitude and were met with ignorance. I won’t be riding here again, definitely not worth the money. The guides seem miserable. It was unfortunate because we really wanted to enjoy the experience.

We were in town and my daughter wanted to do a trail ride. Booking was very easy and check in was a breeze! They were very friendly at check in. The guide was not interactive at all. They tell you don't drop your reins or you'll get a warning, after the 3rd warning you have to get off your horse. The guide rarely had the reins. They don't attempt to let you ride with your party. The didn't ask about taking pictures together. I've never been on a trail ride where they don't offer to take a picture with your party. I had to ask right as we were getting off which seemed bothersome and it's a terrible picture. It's barely 45 minutes, absolutely not worth the money.

The ride was very short, and the guide wasn't very friendly. A woman's hat had fallen off, clearly in distress and fright, and a girl dismounted to retrieve it. I heard the guide scold her, telling her that "some people should listen more, since it was their job to retrieve the hat," but she clearly hadn't noticed until she saw the girl dismount. As for the ride itself, it was short, not very scenic, and completely uninspiring. A waste of $85.

Great Customer Service at the window. Very affordable. Something I look forward to again. Very nice and friendly worker and very sweet to my kids. I wish I would have gotten her name! The animals are very beautiful and friendly and well behaved around humans. Highly Satisfied with the Petting Zoo

First time riding horses it was fun, and I enjoyed learning. But once I got comfortable I wanted to ride next to my girlfriend because the instructor/leader didn't let us go with our groups but she said don't get out of line. The instructor didn't even try to get us or any of the other groups together. It wasn't scenic going on road and near factories for a big part of it. I wouldn't pay $85 for it again maybe $40-$50.

We had a wonderful time exploring all of the stores and grounds . We attended PBR finals and did the horseback riding . The cattle drive was amazing with all the Long Horns.

The stockyard was so much fun. You can sit on a real longhorn for $10 and take a photo with your phone or camera. Also at 12 and 4 they do the Running of the longhorns thru the main st. The food is great especially the BBQ. The petting zoo is only $5 and is a must for the kids. The shops are pricy!!

I was overly excited to take this trail ride! I rode Athena and it was a great ride! Charlotte was the trail guide and she’s so nice, a very confident rider, knowledgeable and pretty. My ride was cut short due to construction going on but I had a great time and recommend if you haven’t rode in Fort Worth it’s definitely something to put on the bucket list. I will say it’s best to book online ahead of time to ensure your spot. Thanks 🩷✌️🐴

Went with my mother, a good experience for those uncomfortable around horses. I did notice that the video the stockyard officially has up to represent the trail ride online where one rides under the stockyard station sign next to risksys bbq was not included in ours. Nor was our ride a full 45 minutes, actually clocked at 38 minutes, when paying the premium of $75 for an already shortened version of a trail ride I find these discrepancies important. I feel an updated representation of the NEW trail ride may be helpful, aswell ofcourse as the full 45 minutes you pay for, especially for the first ride of the day. Overall an okay experience, but lacking.

I did enjoy riding horses, just wish the trail was more wilderness/forest and longer. Overall it was nice and peaceful, except for the cars making unnecessary noise startling the horses. The horses have gotten used to most surrounding noises, but there are still certain things that frighten them like the hose on the ground and certain cars make unnecessary noises. Overall the horses know the trail by heart, they will stop to eat even though they've been fed, gotta stop them or you will fall behind a little with the rest of the group, they explain everything how to menuver the horses and what to do when the do certain things. If the horses do get frighen, please don't be scared, stay calm and have control, and try to calm the horse down while staying in control. I had to do that because a car decided to show off and frighen the horses, thankfully no one had fallen of the horses happened. Also preferred if you where boots or big shoes, because I got my foot stuck when the horse galloped a little, my foot slid through because I was wearing small shoes and I couldn't get my foot out. So tip wear shoes that are big enough not to slide through the Sattle foot holder.

This review is only for the petting zoo.

Terribly overpriced. Only goats and a few pigs present My kids couldn’t wait to leave. They don’t let parents enter with kids unless you pay for entry which makes sense - but you can’t see inside until you pay because you have to stand back behind the entry doors and everything else is obscured behind a wall. Most of the goats were in the gated area but a few were free to just hound the people with food cups. No staff supervision inside the coral area, unless they use security cameras to supervise… but I didn’t notice any cameras and if there is camera supervision why didn’t they put the stray goats away?? I’d steer clear of this place unless spending about $30~ for a family of 5 to have a few short minutes of entertainment doesn’t bother you.

This was the absolute highlight of our Texas stay! Kitkat was the best horse to ride, we were taken through an amazing part of the town and most importantly with the most beautiful people! An absolute must, do not miss this one!

I had the best time ever riding the horse Jasmine! It was my first time ever going horseback riding and I can say that it was truly an amazing experience!! If I come back to Texas I will definitely say I am stopping by again! Not only was our tour guide informational, but she was so helpful, sweet, kind, and caring for us and the horses!!

We had a wonderful time! Our trail guide Brook was awesome! Levi and Sonny were the horses we rode and they were great! We would love to come back and ride again when in your area! We highly recommend it!

This was my granddaughter's very first trail ride and she was absolutely mesmerized. The horses were very calm and enjoyable to ride. Leighton did a wonderful job of leading our group and he was very attentive to all of our needs. We enjoyed our full 60 minutes of riding and will most likely come back when we are in Fort Worth again. Thank you to the crew at the Stables for your professionalism, friendliness and carefulness for all of its guests. I would highly recommend!

The Ft. Worth stockyards is a great place to visit if you want to experience Texas. We had a memorable time horseback riding! The guides were very informative, professional and they assign a horse to you based on your weight and experience. They were a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this place! 👍🏼
