Head to the Kimbell Art Museum for a date that provides cultural enrichment and an abundance of beauty. The art is not simply confined the areas within the walls of the Kimbell Art Museum. The building itself is a work of art from contemporary architect Louis Kahn. The exterior design of the the Kimbell is breathtaking and there are even more stunning design elements inside like vaults and skylight. The museum does have a world-class collection of art spanning centuries and cultures, including works by masters such as Michelangelo, Monet, and Picasso, as well as a sculpture garden designed by Isamu Noguchi.

The permanent collection is great and always free. The special exhibits are always worth the ticket price. If you're on a tight budget, Friday nights and Tuesdays are half price for special exhibits.

Brilliant collection and building. If you are ever waiting in line at the uffizi and want to pick a fight with an italian, tell them Michelangelo's first "known" painting and Caravaggio's cardsharps is homed next to the fort worth stockyards. But creepy older security guy walked by my car as soon as i arrived with my baby daughter and then seemed to follow me around the museum, even outside again. It was creepy. Father alarm definitely went off. Not sure if he just picks one person to follow around or this is policy, but it takes away from experience.

Very nice presentation of their art pieces. Good variety but a bit choppy. There were pieces in the main building that should have been in the second building with similar relics. Second a small architectural feature of a courtyard and fountain was closed to the public and lastly the gift shop was way to big for the size of the museum.

I love the Kimbell Museum of Fine Art. My favorite piece is "The Torment of Saint Jerome" which was Michelangelo's very first painting. The detail in this just mesmerizes me.. They say it was painted when he was a boy and that he studied fish at the local market to get the detail of scales for the demons in his painting. This is an amazing collection we are very fortunate to have here to enjoy and free to the public. There are so many stories to go with the pieces, which makes it an adventure to me.

The Holy Sepulchre exhibit was amazing. Highly highly recommend seeing it. Their other permanent exhibits are really cool too and I believe they're free to browse.

The Kimball museum has an incredible selection, I was so ecstatic to see pieces by Picasso and Monet. The free excibit is large and incredibly beautiful. There are tours available if you choose to attend them, for both the art and architecture. Special exhibits are $18 per adult and I wish I had purchased one but I didn't end up seeing that exhibit. I feel as though lighting could have been better on certain pieces as there were dark spots inside the exhibit. Parking was incredibly easy to find as there are multiple places to find parking. The gift shop had a huge selection and many fun options to purchase from.

I visited this museum for the first time to see a special exhibition they had. The exhibition was held in a separate building behind the main museum. I have trouble with stairs and not only are there stairs between the buildings but there are no railings to hold. (So it looks pretty but isn't very practical for those of us that need a little help.) I found out later that there is a completely accessible route but you literally have to walk around the outside of the entire museum and then around the space between the two sides. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just access the second structure directly? The exhibition itself was well done and there were benches around for those who needed them. Most people were very nice although the person taking the tickets didn't even offer us a program, we had to ask. I would go back because it is a nice museum but be aware of the accessibility issues.

I've been to the KAM twice now and have really enjoyed it both times. The first time I went, my bf took me and my son and I took his gf the second time. One time we walked through fairly quickly, the other we took our time, so I like the fact that you can enjoy things at your own pace. Also, it's free, and nowadays that's a rare treat! Next time I think we'll go aha bring a picnic lunch to enjoy outside in the beautiful garden and waterfall area. Highly recommend checking this place out!

One of those rare places where the building itself feels like part of the art. Designed by Louis Kahn, the architecture is calm, airy, and filled with natural light that softly washes over the galleries, creating a peaceful and almost meditative experience. Inside, the collection is thoughtfully curated rather than overwhelming. You’ll find everything from European masters like Monet, Picasso, and Caravaggio to ancient works that give the museum a real sense of depth and history. It never feels rushed or crowded, which makes it easy to slow down and actually enjoy each piece. During our visit, there was also a striking exhibition featuring Buddha Shiva Lotus Dragon. It added a powerful cultural dimension to the experience, blending Eastern mythological symbolism in a way that invited reflection rather than just observation. It stood out because it contrasted beautifully with the museum’s quiet, minimalist architecture, making the galleries feel even more contemplative and globally connected. The atmosphere is quiet, refined, and very welcoming. It’s also easy to pair with other museums in the Cultural District if you want to make a full day of art and exploration. One of the best parts is that the experience feels approachable even if you’re not an art expert. Advice: go early in the day for the most peaceful experience, take your time in the main gallery with the vaulted ceilings, and don’t skip the special exhibits if one is running. The café is also a nice stop if you want to break up your visit. Overall, it’s a must-visit in Fort Worth, not just for the art, but for the feeling of being inside a space that is beautifully intentional and calming.

It's free on days when there are no exhibits. It is a eclectic collection from across the world. I went on a gloomy Thursday morning and it wasn't super busy. It's a wonderful way to spend time in Fort Worth.

I love this museum! Was really wowed by the Mayan exhibition!!! It was beyond amazing!! My son is half Guatemalan, and it was a great opportunity to engage with his heritage! They have great pieces in their general collection as well!! Fantastic museum with great art! The buildings are beautiful!! I go back as often as I can even when they don't have any special exhibition! Every time I discover something new!!

Kimball Art Museum is one of my favorite museums to visit to see the exhibitions of world-renowned artists. The exhibitions with ancient artifacts are very interesting and unique. I have never been disappointed. The staff is always very informative and polite. The design of the museum is breathtaking. I would recommend becoming a member so you can partake of all the extra special activities available.
