I recently took clients to the iconic Lonesome Dove Steakhouse in Fort Worth’s Stockyards, arranged by my sales representative. We started the evening with drinks at the bar, where the bartender was attentive and kept service on point. Our party of six was seated at a table perfect for the group, and our waiter—who looked strikingly like Sam Elliott—provided excellent service throughout the night.
We began with a selection of shared appetizers, including the Rabbit-Rattlesnake Sausage, Manchego Rosti, Crème Fraîche, and Elk-Foie Gras Sliders. A few in our party also had the Butter Lettuce Salad with Red Chili-Buttermilk, Chévre, Lardoons, and Pickled Jalapeño.
For the main course, three of us chose the Roasted Garlic Stuffed Beef Tenderloin with Western Plaid Hash and Grilled Asparagus. The tenderloin was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. One of our clients ordered the seabass special and loved it. I was also able to try both the Elk Loin and Montana Bison Ribeye, which were tender and full of amazing taste.
We shared two sides: the LD Mac & Cheese, enhanced with lobster for the evening, and Burnt Carrots with Texas Honey, Lemon, and Goat Cheese. Both were excellent.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist sharing three options: the Warm Ancho Chile Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream and Smoked Almond Brittle (which won the chef the Iron Chef competition), Authentic Mexican Churros with Chocolate, Caramel, and Raspberry Dipping Sauces, and the Dessert of the Day, a Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. Everyone had a different favorite, but all were enjoyed.
It was a pricey meal, but the exceptional quality, service, and flavors made it well worth it. Highly recommend for a special occasion or client dinner!
